Symrise has a stance of being the largest fragrance raw material supplier, with 400+ products and legacy stretching back to 1874 when the success of the synthesis of vanillin, the very first synthesized fragrance ingredient. High-performing, high-impact ingredients produced by Symrise are created with creative passion through sustainable practices.

“Sustainable success through remarkable renewables” - As sustainability is fundamental to secure long-term success for both Symrise and customers, it is achieved by using naturally occurring, renewable and sustainable feedstocks. Symrise is one of the few manufacturers to make anethole, linalools, and various other fragrance ingredients from renewable materials. Some examples are crude sulfate turpentine, a byproduct from the pulp & paper industry, and D-limonene, a byproduct from the citrus industry.

Symrise also became the first fragrance and flavor ingredients producer to achieve Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®)* Chain of Custody (CoC) certification from ingredients derived from forest products, another ground-breaking step in taking environmental and social responsibility for users of fragrances and flavors derived from the nature.
